Wendatia Dissolves, Splits Into Three Successor States

Last week, on March 16, it was announced by Dzhona Yaruvich, the President of Wendatia, that the Co-operative Republic of Wendatia had been dissolved, citing a lack of participation in the planned drafting of a new constitution. The nation’s dissolution has led to the formation of three new states that were formerly a part of Wendatia and the ceding of Wendatia’s former land claims.

The three new states established following Wendatia’s dissolution are: the Free State of Avienta, the State of Huron, and the People’s State of Lovisia.

Wendatia was recently re-established as the Co-operative Republic of Wendatia on October 25, 2025, and saw a renewal in interest with a general election being held in November 2025. The nation was preceded by two iterations: the Republic of Wendatia, which existed briefly in 2023, and the Co-operative Republic of Wendatia, which was founded on July 29, 2020, initially named as the Huronese Republic (later becoming known as the Co-operative Republic of Wendatia on February 8, 2021).

On September 9, 2020, the nation’s name was changed to Wendat; a few days later, the nation was changed slightly to “Wendatia” as to avoid confusion with Wegmat, due to the naming similarity.

Wendatia was located in the US State of Michigan. The nation, under its first iteration, was a member of the Cupertino Alliance and held close diplomatic relations with micronations in the MicroWiki Sector, such as the Commonwealth of Naveria and the Socialist Federal Union of Ponderosa Hills.

Changes in Governance

Avienta is now headed under a provisional government led by Dzhona Yaruvich and the former Democratic Alliance (DA) of Wendatia. Huron is independent and led by Leonid R., a former DA Member of Parliament from Huron in the National Assembly. The People’s State of Lovisia is led by the former Communist Party of Wendatia, the CPW, and is headed by the former Chief Minister of Wendatia, Louise DeRosa. The CPW has since been renamed to the Communist Party of Lovisia, and the newly formed Lovisian People’s Army has been mobilized in the region.

In addition, Novo Jaslo (formerly known as Arroyo), a former state of Wendatia, became a protectorate of the newly formed Avienta following a decision made by former DA Member of Parliament and Governor of Arroyo, Anthony Aldmont, to join Avienta. Furthermore, New Pradera was annexed by Lovisia.

The former territories of Wendatia (Delray and Torquay) both saw some changes. Delray was ceded to the United States; meanwhile, Torquay became a state of Avienta.

The dissolution of Wendatia comes after it was reported by Noticaswendatia, the state-owned broadcasting company of Wendatia, that the nation was to undergo a constitutional revision by a convention of the Constitutional Assembly. The Constitutional Assembly comprised of the members of the National Assembly along with volunteering citizens.

When asked for comment on Wendatia’s dissolution, Dzhona Yaruvich attributed the nation’s dissolution mainly to a general lack of interest and enthusiasm in Wendatia. In addition, he stated that the lack of certain political factions in opposition might also have contributed to the dissolution.

“I’d say the collapse was caused by a general lack of interest and enthusiasm for Wendatia, and a desire to pursue separate interests by different parts of Wendatia. If I had to guess as to why, I think the resources that went into building and aligning the Principality of Magnolia with us, and maybe even the Second Toledo War back in January, left some people aloof. This also coincided with a lack of debate in the National Assembly, which by the end had sort of turned into a rubber stamp for my policy, without my influence.

You could also argue the lack of real opposition within Wendatia caused the dissolution. There was never a major Right-wing faction, with the Independents Alliance collapsing due to reasons many know with it’s former leader Charles Madgett (this was before the info about him was revealed), or the failiure and eventual “quit” of the National Federal Legion during a very poorly organized by-election.”

Despite the dissolution of Wendatia, he expresses hope that the three new states will see some co-operation and renewal in interest, adding, “However, this doesn’t mean that we’ve completely given up, and it’s likely the 3 new nations of Avienta, Lovisia, and Huron will have intense cooperation between eachother in the coming months. I hope that we can also realize the Midwestern/Great Lakes regional bloc that I have sought to form.”

At this moment, it is unknown if the three new nations will form an alliance. However, given their strong ties to Wendatia, there will likely be some diplomatic cooperation between them.
